Swallow the Moon

A journal for students by students.

Over the years we have enjoyed thousands of
contributions from authors, photographers, and artists.

Our spirit and love for writing and creating is the primary reason
we continue sponsoring students—to ensure that they have a
space to share their talents with others.

We welcome fiction, non-fiction, poetry, language pieces, photography, and artwork.

We continue evolving to be a platform for every student to share their
interests and accomplishments, regardless of major or class standing.

HOW DOES THE SUBMISSION PROCESS WORK?

Thank you for your interest in submitting to Swallow the Moon! We are a student-run literary and arts journal that functions out of Oakland University.

Any current student or alumni of Oakland University is welcome to submit!

SUBMISSION PERIOD: Nov 1st to Jan 1st

Please let us know if you are submitting your pieces simultaneously to other publications, and if so, who are they. Also if they get accepted into that other publication please let us know ASAP.

We Accept:

Short Stories
Poetry
Creative Non-fiction (like memoir essays)
Screenplays
Stage Plays
Foreign Language Pieces (Spanish, French, German)
Art
Photography

We do recommend limiting yourself to FIVE submissions. Thank you!

PAGE LIMIT: 7 Pages

Please E-MAIL your submission to ouswallowthemoon@gmail.com with the word “submission” somewhere in the subject heading.

In the e-mail, please include the following information:

Full Name
Class Standing
Majors/Minors
Title(s) of Submissions
Submission Category (Prose, Poetry, etc.)
Number of Pages

LITERATURE SUBMISSION FORMAT:

Please Include: Title, Author’s Name, Page Numbers

Please make sure your piece is in Times New Roman, 12 pt, with 1.15 spacing!

Attach your piece to the email as a Google Doc or Word file!

Determinations will be communicated to authors via email.

HOW DO I CHECK ON MY SUBMISSION?

Wondering about the status of your submission? Please email us at OUswallowthemoon@gmail.com with subject line "STATUS UPDATE." Ensure that your name and the title of the work you submitted are included in the body of the email.
